2nd February 2010

The days do seem to go past much too fast!

To catch up, last weekend we went to my nephew Tom's wedding, he was marrying his Tainan girlfriend Laing Ying (Elaine in UK!)and they will return to China to live, Tom has lived out there for many many years and speaks Chinese fluently - fascinating to watch and listen to LOL. Great day with some lovely Winter sunshine for the photos.

Sunday we had the SEWSSC Open Show, as I am Secretary, of course I could not show a dog but Dylan went (he does not belong to me, I only bred him!) and was shown by a friend of mine, he won Limit dog, which was good, but did not go any further. Was delighted to see Enya's sister Nell (Julita Rezenella) get a good 3rd place in Junior and then win Novice. Other sister Flicka (Julita Revelation)was also there and looking good, and got herself a place as well - so a good day all round I think.

28th January 2010

Had a lovely day today, Nell (Julita Rezenella) visited us today with her friends Soda and Pigeon, we had a super walk in Hylands Park, and met a lady with Sussex that I knew some 8 - 10 years ago, nice chat, somehow doggie people just pick where you leave off no matter how many years elapse!!
Back home for home made Butternut Squash and red pepper soup - nice after our walk, and Janey's home made cake - luxury!
Took some nice photos of Nell one of which may be used for the Year Book this year, she looks lovely in it. I will post a pic of all five of them in our kitchen, bless.....

Great day for me at Manchester Ch Show last Sunday, Dylan was inOpen ( by mistake!) but got placed 3rd, then Kari also got 3rd in Limit, but the star of the day was Enya, who won her first Junior Class - well done to her. It was a lovely class with some really nice dogs in it, so I was especially pleased.

21st Jan AGAIN!!

Yippee I now have TWO followers!!! I sent the URL to many - where are you all???

21st January - try again!

Hmmm I just did this post and it has disappeared into the ether, so I will attempt it again.......

Went to the worst Funeral EVER yesterday, of my dearest friend who died at Christmas, it was terrible, it was not about HER at all. Luckily my other long term friend came with me to ensure that I did not say anything - I wanted to!

Enya still with me, I have trimmed her for Manchester Ch Show, and this morning I went to Angie's and trimmed Dylan, he looks wonderful, but unfortunately they entered him in the Open Class at Manchester instead of the Limit - lets hope that no Champions attend!! Kari still needs trimming nadly, I will do her tomorrow morning.

Peter in London setting up his boats for the Model Exhibition, he will be there for the next 3 days, so I will have the house to myself - now what can I get up to??!!

16th January

Just returned from taking Kari on our local shoot, for her first time - she was WONDERFUL - she hunted with a great deal of zest and found many birds, also picked a wounded bird, although she did not want to bring this one to me until it was quite dead!! Then she found a bird in a thick bush which could not get out, I could see it was so deep in that it would never have flown, so she caught it and brought it to me perfectly to hand, alive and undamaged - what a good girl. She is shattered and has just had a nice warm bath as she was also filthy! I am now going to meet Peter who was at the Woodham Walter shoot, for dinner in the local Pub with all the Members of that shoot, so quite a good day for me too - must feed the dogs before I go!

Have been spending lots of time on the computer recently firstly, cancelling the Joint Health Group meeting as a lot of delegates were snowed in, then trying to arrange a new date, which is now for the 14th February, all but one of them have replied that this date is OK, so lets hope that there is no more snow. Typically I now hear that most of the snow has gone from the Midlands today, but of course Wales and further North could still have a lot.

The show I had entered for tdoay was cancelled due to the weather conditons, and has kindly reorganised itself for the day of the SEWSSC Open Show - 31st January! I now will have to find out if I can use my entry fees for their next show and find out the date - bet they are sick as today has been OK as it happens, just rain, no snow or frost!!

Off to the Pub now, I think I need a nice BIG glass of wine !!

January 12th 2010

Sorry I have not had time to add a post for a few days.
Had a visit from Enya's sister Nell and her family, human and canine, on Sunday. They came for lunch and enjoyed a great time playing in the snow in our field, we also did a bit of training with Nell, she shows promise as a working dog and I am now encouraging Janey to enter Working Assessments, I think she could do well. Enya is now staying with us because of being in season - finally - at one year old LOL

Had to cancel my SEWSSC Committee meeting for tomorrow evening, mainly because of the snow but also because of possible ice when returning home late in the evening - not worth taking chances. Now trying to organise our Open Show on the 31st via email - life is always fun!

The Joint Health Group meeting is on Sunday 17th and at present I am not sure if I will have to cancel this - do not want to really as some things really need to be discussed. Hoping that the snow which is thawing fast here, will also thaw in more northern areas so that the meeting can go ahead. We will see.

9th January 2010

Well I made my Liver Cake and the house has now returned to normal - ie the smell has gone!!
Cough has now almost completely gone, no cold, just the cough - very odd, but glad to be in 'fine fettle' again LOL
Heard that the show on Sunday is to be rescheduled and that the shoot today has been cancelled - so a free weekend - a rarity in this household!
Going to collect Enya shortly as she is now in season - at last - she is already one year old LOL - she will stay here unti l she is over it as Corrin would love to 'practice' on her!
Managed to get to Boston show at Peterborough yesterday, the roads when I left at 7am around here were dreadful - completely iced over - it did not help that the car heater decided to go on strike and only put out a small amount of heat - later it was fine - typical. Main roads were fine and the journey only took 2 hours which was about half an hour more than normal, due to driving very slowly a lot of the time. The Show was like a small Open Show, harldy anyone there, entries depleted massively, ie Pointers Entry 20, dogs tehre about 6 - welshies 13 entry, 4 turned up - it was the same all through. What a shame for the organisers.
Met up with Olga as arranged, over from Slovakia, and she collected her puppy, who is a real cutie and very happy and waggy. Hope her flight goes today back home with the overnight snow we have had - about another 3 inches I think, our walks are getting very interesting as you cannot see the iced over puddles under the snow and Peter has already found out that they are very slippery!! So far I have stayed upright, but that could change at any moment LOL

6th January 2010

Loads of snow overnight, here is a photo of our walk this morning. Everywhere is very pretty but it is a nuisance as it may stop me meeting Olga from Slovakia at Boston Show on Friday - we will see. Also have a show on Sunday, not sure I will make that one either :)

Yesterday I stayed firmly in the house, my cough is better and it is good to keep warm I think to make sure it goes. I did my Agendas for my Club (SEWSSC) and the Joint Health Group meeting which are both in a week or so - a busy time for me.

Today I plan to make a new batch of Liver Cake for the dog shows, so I will be stinking the house out - but the dogs enjoy it and sit watching me with enormous interest!

Kari and Ramble had great fun on the walk today, they were playing like idiots in the 'white stuff' but it is not icy enough for them to get snowballs on their legs, they do not like them.

4th January 2010

WOW what a day I had yesterday at the WSSC of South Wales Open Show! Anya Wetsteyn from Holland was the Judge.

Dylan won the Limit dog class and Corrin (Julita American Redway) was 4th in the Veteran Dog class, then Dylan (Julita Ranger) was awarded Reserve Best dog.

On to the Bitches - Enya was only 3rd in her last Puppy Class BUT her sister Nell (Julita Rezenella) won it!! Also her other sister Flicka (Julita Rememberance) was 4th - so a great class for Julitas! Nell did not go any further though as the Minor Puppy Bitch was awarded best puppy bitch.
Then Kari (Julita Raskari) won the Limit Bitch class, and was awarded BEST BITCH - it did not end there as then Kari was awarded Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex in Show, with the Veteran dog getting Best In Show.

Quite a drive to get there and we were late finishing so we stopped for supper on the way home and arrived back at 10pm - tired but happy.

Today the nasty throat that has been 'threatening' all week, has now become very nasty and I can hardly talk - Peter is in seventh heaven!!

1st January 2010

WELL.... we did start the New Year of 2010 with a BANG!! Went to Coventry Ladies Kennel today and Kari won the Open Class for Welshies and her daughter Enya got 1st in the Puppy Class, gaining Best Puppy in Breed and Kari went Best of Breed. I was delighted. However better was to come! She then won the Gundog Group - WOWWWWWWW also Enya gained a good 3rd place in the Puppy Stakes winning me £4 as well - so a fantastic start to the new year I think. Kari did not get anything in the Best in Show unfortunately, a Toy Poodle won and a Staffie was Reserve - ah well.......

Feeling somewhat tired this evening after all that driving but we go to Wales on Sunday - must be mad - for the WSSCofSW Open Show, even MORE driving!

Enya's sister Julita Rezenella also came to the show today and was 2nd behind Enya, she is also going to Wales and I have a feeling that she may well beat Enya at that show - we will see, this will be their very last class in Puppy, they will be one year old on the 4th , it has come around very fast it seems to me.
